St Colmcilles GAA Club

We might be Louth and proud, but it doesn’t stop us helping our footballing friends on the other side of the river Boyne. McKevitt Architects are very pleased to continue their longstanding relationship with St Colmcilles which dates back to the 1980s. Although the practice are currently involved in a number of exciting projects with the club, our very latest involvement is the joint sponsorship of the invincible Junior D team. By coincidence the co-sponsors of the team are well known local companies Citycool and Magtruss who we are fortunate to deal with frequently. The team is packed with many “legends” who also double up as clients of the office and/or specialists & sub-contractors we deal with in the everyday (Caimin Hall, Emmet Grogan, Niall Ronan………)

Turlough McKevitt & Jim MacArdle designed the current clubhouse on Piltown Road in the 1980's whcih was built by Taaffe Brothers. Back then they dealth with Dermot Hilliard on the clubs behalf. Since then we have dealt with a list of club stalwarts over the decades; Denis Meagher, James Kelly, Jackser Kavanagh, Paddy Branigan, etc. Various projects over that time were spread between Piltown Road and Seafield, and included floodlights, new pitches, clubhouse renovations, and gym building to name a few.

The club are progressive and have great vision. We are fortunate to be currently involved in two very exciting projects that have an eye to the future. The larger more long-term of the two is the redevelopment and enlargement of the existing clubhouse into a state-of-the-art facility over two levels. The other project is the creation of a pavilion with car-parking in Seafield to provide badly needed changing & toilet facilities. Both projects are at planning permission stage.

As always we wish the entire club continued success into the future, but in the coming weeks we wish the Junior D team every success in their own right. For information on the club and to follow the Junior D’s progress have a look over here.
