Richard Rogers RIP

We were saddened this week to hear that Richard Rogers, the Italian born and UK based architect passed away. Adrian worked with Richard Rogers as part of Richard Rogers Partnership at a time when the practice changed from RRP to Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners and has very fond memories of Richard and his time there. Richard was an amazing visionary and set up a practice where design exploration in a highly creative environment was par for the course. This culminated in the design of extraordinary buildings such as the Pompidou Centre in Paris, Lloyds of London, Leadenhall in London and Strasbourg’s European Court of Human Rights to name but a few. Richard was a mentor and a great leader. What Adrian learned most from him was the importance of designing exceptional urban places and a desire to create buildings as places of exchange for cities and towns and the people who use them. The public realm has become an area of particular interest for Adrian. Our thoughts and prayers are with Richard’s family, friends and colleagues at this sad time.
