New rural one-off houses are now becoming fewer, with the advent of the National Planning Framework. With the revision of the Local Housing Need criteria, less one-off houses are being granted planning permission in the countryside. “An rud is annamh is iontach” (what's seldom is wonderful) certainly applies to this house. A part two-storey / part single-storey contemporary house commanding views of the surrounding landscape. Although contemporary, the house borrows from the vernacular in form and elements of material. Recently granted planning permission, the house is now going to site, being built by local building contractor Newgrange Construction. We look forward to seeing the house taking shape on site. With such a stunning design, the house will contribute to and enhance the countryside around it.
