Once the site of a bungalow requiring significantupgrades, a new two storey dwelling sits proudly in the centre of the site’sspectacular mature setting. The new house takes full advantage of the sun path, privacy and shelter afforded by the existing mature trees and landscaping.

The overall building form is based on a traditional twostorey farmhouse type dwelling, typical to Painestown, with part single storeyelements. Two distinct pitched roof forms arranged in an ‘L’ are linked bylinear planes made up of flat roofs, canopies and an upper terrace, all surroundinga stunning south facing courtyard.

Large, glazed sliding doors have been utilised throughoutthe scheme, particularly along the perimeter of the courtyard, creating strongvisual and physical connections between the internal spaces and the landscapebeyond.

A traditional palette of natural stone and timber havebeen selected, expressed in a contemporary manner incorporating influences fromthe client’s experiences living all over the world.
