The complete transformation of a house, both in looks and layout. The heart of this remodelling project is the large dual-aspect open plan kitchen/dining/living space, with morning light flooding in from the rear, and evening light flooding in from the front. For all the structural engineering enthusiasts, we even have a “floating” bedroom over this space. Thanks to some clever engineering the corner of the original house sits suspended over the kitchen and living space. The large vaulted living area gazes out across the garden and beyond to the Cooley mountains through a tall triangle-topped wall of glass. The space is complemented with a polished concrete floor, and some clever storage solutions.
The original house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac in the middle of Stabannon. It was built as part of a small housing development, matching the neighbouring brick clad houses. The renovation involved the facelift of the front façade, implementing a clean modern look of zinc & plaster. A contemporary gem in mid-Louth.
