Built in the 1960s by Irish Cement for their farm manager, the house retained its original design from then until 2018. The original house comprised of all the usual & unusual Irish Cement building products of the time, some of which we had never seen before and will never see again (including honeycomb chalk blocks). The brief was to reconfigure the existing floor plan and accommodation to create a modern, bright, spacious, and comfortable house to cater for a young family of today. By breaking between and opening up the existing kitchen, living room, and sitting room we created an open light-filled dual aspect space that is the heart of the home. This space opens out onto the south facing garden to the rear with views of mature apple trees. The remainder of the house was completely upgraded and transformed.
