RIAI Conference 2022

James and Adrian attended the RIAI Conference last week in the RDS Dublin. The RIAI opened its annual Conference under the theme Places for People. The 2022 annual Conference marked the milestone publication of Ireland’s new Policy on Architecture. There were some very informative talks given by Lacol Architects (Barcelona), Maureen Gaffney psychologist, but the highlight was the captivating lecture from Grafton Architects. Yvonne Farrell and Shelly McNamara gave an overview of a number of their recent and current projects including Kingston University Library. An inspiration for us all.

The new National Policy on Architecture will promote and embed quality in architecture and the built environment in Ireland, for increased environmental, economic and social sustainability and resilience.

The ‘Architecture Building EXPO’ was also run in the RDS in parallel with the conference, where a lot of the latest and best products, materials, and technologies were on display. James & Adrian got to catch up with many of their regular contacts such as Phil Ward (Xtratherm), Ian Killoch (Daikin), and Mike Bonner (VindrVs) to name a few. In addition to the conference lecturers and EXPO displays, they also got to rub shoulders with fellow architects, former colleagues, old classmates and friends.
